This is a series of books, practical handbooks, which are written for sports teams to prevent sports injuries and accelerate injury rehabilitation.  Their content comes from a long line of practical experience working with sports teams, especially through the experience and methods that were summed up during the preparation for the 2004, 2008 and 2010 Olympic games.  This series focuses on how to solve problems with injury recovery during the whole process of training, which can be used as a reference tool by various sports coaches, athletes, doctors, researchers, and therapists who specialize in sports rehabilitation, or just sports enthusiasts.

 Table tennis  players are required to complete most of their actions in the body forward positions.  When they exert energy, they rotate their lower backs, and their shoulders drive their wrists.  Therefore, it easily leads to sports injuries to athletes’ lower back, knees, shoulders, elbows and other parts of their bodies.  According to the report of our outstanding national table tennis players, the common injury locations and their ratios are lower back, knees, and shoulders.  In addition, the incidence rate is related to how players grip their paddles.  The top three injury records show that the players who utilize the pen-hold grip loop drive with rubber on one-side have the highest injury rate, reaching 100%; for players using the handshake grip loop drive, the injury rate is 97%; for players using the pen-hold grip loop drive combined with fast break, the injury rate is 87%.
 
For table tennis, Dr. Chen’s physical rehabilitation team has summed up the following physical rehabilitation training prevention and prescriptions for common sports injuries.  Common injuries for this sport include rotator cuff injuries, “tennis elbow” (humeral epicondylitis), upper back pain, patellar osteomalacia, ankle instability, and back muscle strain.  In order to ensure safe and effective training, athletes should get a comprehensive assessment before training.
