The predecessor of the Sichuan Orthopedic Hospital, China’s first sports hospital, was Chengdu Sports University, founded in 1958 under the care of Marshal He Long. In 1984, with the approval of the National Scientific and Technological Commission, it changed its name to the National Sports Commission – Chengdu Sports Trauma Research Institute. It is also called Chengdu Sports Hospital, and belongs to the National Sports Commission. In December 2003, the hospital became “Zheng’s Traditional Chinese Medicine Orthopedic” of the Sichuan Intangible Cultural Heritage protection unit. It is a first rate traditional Chinese medicine orthopedic hospital with strong Chinese medical characteristics, and has complete clinical departments, medical talents and the three-in-one combination of medicine, teaching and research. It is a designated hospital for provincial, municipal, district social security and children’s mutual aid fund. It is a designated hospital for Sichuan work injury and injury rehabilitation. It is a designated hospital for the Sichuan Insurance Association, and a health care base for provincial heads.
