Sohu Sports News, October 28 Beijing time: the practice round of the 2014 BMW Masters was carried out at Lake Meilann Golf Club in Shanghai, and some participating players began training early in the morning. On that day, reporters spotted a familiar face, the famous sports physical rehabilitation specialist Dr. Bob Chen.
Dr. Chen said, “up until now, I have been working for the Olympic gold medal events. But this time, golf will return to the Olympic Games. The leadership of the General Administration is paying great attention to it, and hopes for a breakthrough in golf. The golf players nowadays are generally trained by themselves from childhood, so they do not quite realize the importance of physical training and recovery. Therefore, some players are troubled by injuries, and that has affected their technique, driving distance, and accuracy. We have introduced them to some appropriate physical training, adjustment and treatment methods, and achieved obvious results. The reason for me to come to this tournament is to observe each player’s individual situation.”
In fact, national golf players such as Huang Wenyi, Gu Mu, He Ziyu, and Feng Simin have all received guidance and treatment from Dr. Chen before. Now, Dr. Chen is working with the National Golf Team. In order to prepare for the 2016 Brazil Olympics, in the future Dr. Chen will provide physical training, as well as giving rehabilitation guidance, for every player.
Dr. Chen continues: “In order to adjust each player’s body to the best level, we need to make personalized plans for each individual. Everyone is different, therefore, we must use scientific concept to help each player. We want to see in the future that all national team players are able to make their own plans.”
In addition to helping professional golfers with their physical training and recovery, Dr. Bob Chen hopes that the idea and methods of physical rehabilitation can also spread to ordinary people, so everyone who loves this sport can continue playing until they are 100 years old.
