On July 8, Mr. Qu Zhi from Dr. Chen’s STaR Studio arrived in Da Lian. The lecture was divided into two parts. The first part concerned how to conduct targeted preparation work and stretching activities in today’s outdoor sports. The second part was an interactive session that carried out live body adjustment and analysis for office workers. This received great response from the audience; the original one-hour program was extended to one and a half hours.
One of the managers there liked sports such as basketball and volleyball, but he had suffered from long-term knee and lower back pain, which caused great pain on the side of his knees when squatting down, and when bending at the waist, he could not touch the floor with both of his hands without bending his knees. After understanding his problem accurately, I conducted a simple demonstration of the fascia chain relaxation method, which improved his knee strength and reduced the pain. He could not believe that such simple methods could ease the seemingly complex and long-term pain. “This is too amazing!” he said in awe.
Seeing such an “amazing” scene, all the seated managers eagerly began asking questions about injuries to their own bodies. After answering questions, we found that they knew very little about the rational methods and mentality of exercise.
Currently, there is an increasingly strong trend toward outdoor sports such as running, biking, and intense ball games among office workers, and this is a great thing to see! However, due to busy schedules with work, irregular sleep patterns and diet, poor physical conditioning, and the lack proper scientific exercise guidance, these eager amateurs often feel unwell, or are even sick with injuries.
Hence, I want to restate that, “movement lies in science.” Although exercise can improve our physical functions, it is also often the cause of our injuries. So, how can we carry out healthy outdoor activities? My suggestion is to have a thorough warm-up activity and choose suitable sports equipment. The most important thing is to act according to one’s ability by avoiding competing with others and blindly pursuing difficulty and intensity. If encountering physical pain and abnormal reactions, one should go to relevant places to be examined promptly, and get targeted treatment and rehabilitation to prevent deterioration.
Different sports have different mechanisms of injuries and rehabilitation methods. If interested, you can go to our official website to find relevant case studies and learn more.
