Studio Newsflash: Su Yuansheng, the “founder of Su’s Back-walking Therapy” physical rehabilitation training class2014-07-22 16:06:33 From:
From June 13 to June 15, Dr. Bob Chen, the manager of the Retired Athletes Physical Rehabilitation Training Career of the Chinese Athletes Educational Foundation, invited Mr. Su Yuansheng, the founder of Su’s “Back-walking Therapy” to teach the training class.
Kneading Massage is one of the precious heritages of China, and as a branch of Chinese massage, Back-walking Therapy has existed for more than two thousand years. Su’s Back-walking Therapy,” combined with modern rehabilitation and traditional Chinese medicine kneading massage therapy methods, has significant curative effects on the neck, shoulders, lower back, and legs. Back-walking therapy is a method of using two feet walking rhythmically on the body parts to treat sickness. Compared with other massage techniques, it has more force, wider contact areas, is more evenly distributed, has stronger permeability, and other characteristics. With the development of science and technology, as a remedy, kneading massage has gradually improved and developed.
The class started with Director Su’s humorous self introduction, calling himself “Su, the big nose,” so in that cheerful atmosphere, the students learned the Back-walking Therapy he brought to the class that was as unique as his so-called “Big Nose.” Then, Dr. Su Na taught the basic theoretical knowledge, mechanism of action, indications, contraindications, footwork, walking methods and routines of the therapy, as well as the walking methods for meridians and muscles in parts of the body using illustrations and texts. For each part he taught, Dr. Su would personally demonstrate on trainees, so that they could feel the transformation and intensity of the footwork.
During the short but vivid course, the students carefully drew the essence of the Back-walking Therapy, and quickly mastered the basic operations of the therapy. When Dr. Chen came to check on students’ performance, Dr. Su praised the hard work and the quick technique learning abilities of the students. After some exchange with the students, we learned that they had already possessed some knowledge of anatomy and other rehabilitation skills. We arranged Dr. Su’s Back-walking Therapy during this stage, so that students could grasp more knowledge in the shortest possible time. Dr. Su could not help but be amazed at how meticulous the arrangement of Dr. Chen’s physical rehabilitation training course was.
With Dr. Chen’s logical, orderly, and step-by-step process of learning, students were constantly finding out their own potential. Dr. Chen once said, “The best tool of a rehabilitation specialist is his hands.” Now, under Dr. Chen’s well-choreographed guidance, the students have gained some very nifty “footwork” indeed!
