On the morning of April 13, the physical rehabilitation team, led by Dr. Bob Chen, together with the National Basketball Team doctor performed injury check-ups for the basketball players in preparation for the Asian Sports Meet. There were three steps in the whole process of giving qualitative conclusions on their injuries: the athletes’ own descriptions of their injuries, the preliminary examination of the team doctor, and Dr. Chen’s examination. Meanwhile, they proposed targeted physical rehabilitation suggestions in hopes that the players could get back into normal training as quickly as possible, and live up to their ultimate potential.
By summarizing the situation of the Chinese University Basketball Association, the Chinese High School Basketball Association, and other carnival activities, we can see that from the professional national basketball players, to the high school basketball players, the most injury occurrences were in their knees, lower backs, and ankles. This is caused by athletes having to break through defense, jumping repeatedly, fighting for the ball, and shooting under various physical confrontational conditions, and changing directions and speed while moving.
According to the statistics of common injury locations for outstanding Chinese basketball players, the ratio for knee injury is as high as 22%, the ratio for lower back injury is 16%, and the ratio for ankle injury is 15.3%. Therefore, we need to know how to improve athletes’ awareness for preventing injuries, how to do preparation workouts and stretching before and after the events, and how to do targeted physical rehabilitation training after injuries.
