【Report from QQ Sports】The Capital Institute of Physical Education and Dr. Bob Chen Join Hands to Promote the Motor Function PhD Station!2014-04-14 20:04:41 From:Dr. Bob Chen's STaR Studio
QQ Sports, April 4th, Beijing (Che Li, reporter): Yesterday afternoon, the opening ceremony of the “PhD Training Projects for National Special Needs – Physical Motor Function Training PhD Workstation” was held at Dr. Chen’s STaR Studio. The leaders from the cooperative, the Capital Institute of Physical Education, the staff of the Athletes Foundation, as well as many physical rehabilitation experts, attended the ceremony, and also held a seminar.
According to a report, the Capital Institute of Physical Education is the first college to establish a major in physical rehabilitation in China. Based on our nation’s need, it created the first “PhD Training Projects for National Special Needs – Physical Motor Function Training PhD” program, and has set up its workstation at Dr. Chen’s STaR Studio. This powerful partnership has conformed to the current situation of educational reform and development, complementing each other’s advantages and disadvantages, optimizing the allocation of resources, reducing costs, improving efficiency, and promoting the research and development of physical rehabilitation technology. It has effectively combined the techniques and academic talents of training, and at the same time, the international competitiveness from both sides can also be improved.
Dr. Chen has long been committed to techniques and academic talents of training in physical rehabilitation, and created the STaR Studio as the platform for clinical research and practice, which has provided many cases and practical opportunities for students. Since 2011, Dr. Chen’s STaR Studio has participated in one-year Retired Athletes Physical Rehabilitation Professional Training Courses of the so-called “Whampoa Military Academy of Physical Rehabilitation.” Up till now, they have taught three terms of training courses, trained many physical rehabilitation professionals, and played a huge role in career transition for retired athletes.
The president of the Capital Institute of Physical Education Zhong Bingshu said: “This is a very good attempt for creating another social service in addition to the existing nationwide system for athletes. This workstation does not rely on the support of the country, but it relies on athletes’ funds and their own work to provide services for athletes. At the same time, it provides professional training techniques of physical rehabilitation for retired athletes, and their own backgrounds have enabled them to integrate better into this line of work during the past three terms of training.”
He continued, “If people in this profession can follow the example of Dr. Chen, and create similar workstations that serve athletes and society, then the impact on sports would certainly extend, which is exactly why our school wants to work with this workstation. It is not only for rehabilitation and management, but more importantly, it is a new model in this modern society that uses social resources for public services.”
According to Dr. Chen, the function of this PhD Station is divided into three areas: first, it is to train rehabilitation personnel; second, it is to serve the sports teams and the general public; and third, it is for academic research. Dr. Chen finally said, “The reason for creating the PhD Station is to train specialized personnel for the country, and serve athletes and common people better in the field of health. We are applying rehabilitation concepts used for the national teams to common people, and help them live healthily with physical rehabilitation.”
